I am coming to you with a very special jam jar this month. I’ve decided to feature Bon Iver for early January’s mix, who has been one of my favorite artists and deepest inspirations since I was a child.
Bon Iver’s self-titled album was the first vinyl record I ever listened to. At that time, the family record player was a tiny briefcase-style thing that balanced on a rickety table in the basement. My dad and I listened to Bon Iver, Bon Iver front-to-back, over and over, with breaks only for Amnesiac by Radiohead or The Flying Club Cup by Beirut. Many of these records were gifts from my mom.
Bon Iver is still a great comfort to me, and I hope this special collection I’ve curated can be a comfort to you, too. More than ever, I encourage you to listen to this jam jar in order rather than on shuffle so that you can enjoy the journey.
