Your campsite host
Hi guys! I’m Sunny, a rock climber, writer, and artist who is here to admire the whimsy of the universe and chat with all of you. In the climbing world, I’m an AMGA mountain guide, professional coach, sport climber, and apprentice trad climber. In the writing world, I’m a published poet (barely), a recent grad from Princeton University’s Creative Writing Program, and an aspiring journalist and creative nonfiction writer. In the art world, I’m a campfire guitarist and a budding photographer. In the real world, though, I’m just a little guy trying to get by. Hang out here for my unqualified insights, and always reach out if you want to be friends or need support in your adventures.

The River Gorge Guild
The River Gorge Guild is my concept for our community; one all outdoorspeople can call home. For now, the guild just exists in the form of this blog. That means me providing you all with a platform in which you can find guidance and the latest cultural info, and you guys having whatever profound (or not profound) conversations you want to have in the comments. Someday, though, the guild might have the resources it needs to offer accessible seminars to disadvantaged and marginalized outdoorspeople, host affinity trips and get-togethers, and advocate for those who deserve access to the outdoors (i.e., everyone).
I don’t remember who took this photo, but it depicts me (right) helping my good friend Kate (left) start a route undoubtedly bolted by a tall man. This is the vibe I hope to foster here in the guild.
Where I’ve Been
Here are best the crags I’ve spent at least one week at. You’ll see these featured in lots of my writing.

1.
The Red River Gorge
Kentucky
This is one of my favorite places to climb, and it might be yours, too. Super steep sandstone, excellent vibes, many friends. I’ve been here four times.

3.
Red Rock Canyon
Nevada
This place is literally Mars. It’s brimming with super mega multi-pitches and is climbable even (perhaps especially) in the winter.
**My BFF Bailey White took this awesome photo. Hmu if you’d like her info.

2.
The Owens River Gorge
California
The ORG is a beautiful and varied crag in the middle of the desert. You can see the Sierras from most nearby camping spots. Sick!
The 11a you see me on here was my second ever outdoor climb at the grade.

4.
Smith Rock
Oregon
One of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever climbed, famous for its unique slab and stunning multi-pitches (many of the best multis are bolted!). Its primary campsite at Smith Rock State Park, known affectionately as The Bivy, is a really great spot.
